Sir Frederick Gibberd designed the mosque, which was completed in 1978 and features a prominent golden arch. The mosque is embellished with a large rug and chandelier. The roof of the prayer hall is supported by four columns. Its centre carries precast concrete drum segments that form the mosque's dome, the exterior of which is clad in gold-coloured.
